ATC Sponsor New Hyperion Recording

The new recording recently made at Wells Cathedral, Somerset, is set for a November 2006 release.

The disc features an interesting mix of new and original choral works, including the poignant 'Nunc Dimittis', sung by the Wells Cathedral Choir, with David Bednall, organ, conducted by Matthew Owens.

This piece was originally written for the closing music of the TV production of John Le Carre's 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy', and has become firmly established in the church repertoire, being used for instance in the 9/11 Remembrance Service at St Pauls Cathedral, when thousands of rose petals were released from the Dome, remembering the victims.

The new disc engineered by Julian Millard, was mixed and monitored on ATC's world famous active 20 Loudspeakers.

Equally well known for his film music, Geoffrey Burgon, a long time fan of ATC speakers, uses 20s in his home and SCM 7's in his studio, where they have been used in the production of many of his scores, both for films, including Robin Hood, Dogs of War and Brideshead Revisited, and his concert music, which includes the opera 'Hard Times', concertos for Evelyn Glennie & Joanna MacGregor and the larger scale 'Requiem'.
